In loving memory of
Dr. William (Bill) Braul
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. William Braul on October 4, 2024 at the age of 86.
Bill will be remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife Stephanie, daughter Kathleen (Gordon) Potter, grandchildren Eric, Aimee and Oliver Potter, special friend Jerry Ericsson (Kim), his twin brother Walter Braul (Erna), sister Lydia Harder, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was sadly predeceased by his son David, brothers Henry, Peter, John, and sisters Sally Neufeld and Anne Hildebrandt.
Bill was born in Lymburn, Alberta and grew up on a farm in Rosemary, Alberta. He received his degree in medicine at the University of Alberta in 1964 and did his internship and residency in surgery and internal medicine at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. In 1966 Bill and Stephanie were married and came to Golden to begin his rural medical practice with his much loved partners Jim, Al and Gord. During Bill's 30 year practice he enjoyed the ever evolving medical profession and appreciated the opportunity that a small town practice gave him in surgery and obstetrics. He delighted in the friendships built with his new partners, the wonderful staff and his patients. He was a mentor to many and believed strongly that a doctor was the advocate for his patients. Bill was a man with many interests, hockey, golf, construction, fishing, woodwork, the A-frame, trail riding, travel, but most of all he cared greatly for family, friends, kids and his patients.
A family gathering will be held as were his wishes. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Golden and District Community Foundation would be appreciated.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Roger and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Golden Hospital, the Home Care staff and the paramedics.
