William John Latham

We announce with heavy hearts the passing of William John Latham (March 14, 1951 – July 29, 2026) due to medical complications. Born in New Westminster, B.C., John moved to Salmon Arm in 1979, establishing deep roots as a skilled contractor and dedicated public servant.

As a builder, John left a lasting local mark, constructing the Salmon Arm wharf gazebo, the local SPCA shelter, and the Deep Creek Firehall, while also volunteering to help establish the Voice of the Shuswap radio station. His extensive community service included roles as Salmon Arm Coroner, head of Search and Rescue, PEP coordinator, and White Lake volunteer firefighter.

John was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Margaret; his sisters, Marion and Bonita; and his nephew, James. He is lovingly remembered by his children Jesse (Ashley), Jaime (Dave), and Jenna (Grant), alongside his grandchildren; Bodie, Taya, Brinley, Oakley, Kross, Ellery & Skye.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Salmon Arm SPCA.
