It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sad and sudden passing of Warren Lyle on December 17, 2024. Warren will be lovingly remembered by those who knew him best as a caring husband, fantastic father, committed son, and wonderful brother. We know his many friends and former colleagues will also recall and celebrate the joy and generosity that Warren brought into any room he entered.
Warren leaves behind his best friend and soulmate, Ann Lyle (nee Croteau), and his father Malcolm Lyle (Theresa). He will also be deeply missed by his brothers Mark Lyle (Frances) and Murray Lyle (Lisa). Warren is predeceased by his loving mother, Sabina Cieslak Draper, and his brothers Chris Lyle (Susan) and Ryan Lyle.
Warren is survived by his cherished children, Brenna Lyle McKenna (Eric), Cole Lyle (Holly), and Kelsey Lyle, as well as his treasured grandchildren, Sylvie McKenna, Charlie and Kayce Lyle, and a new baby McKenna on the way. He was also a proud uncle to 17 nieces and nephews.
After studying in California to become a helicopter and small aircraft mechanic, Warren returned to Calgary, where he managed operations for the iconic Stetson Village Inn for 35 years until its closure in 2020. Warren grew up in a busy home with his four brothers and two very active parents - and he knew how to embrace the joy that life has to offer. Road hockey, golfing and skiing - in the mountains or behind a speedboat - were all favourite pastimes and he made sure to pass on his passions and perspective to his children.
The beloved cabin on Shuswap Lake was a special place for Warren, and he generously shared his “piece of paradise” with countless family and friends over many years. Most recently, he and Ann were busy building their dream home on the lake, where they were looking forward to creating new happy memories for their growing family.
Warren was committed to friends and family and his bear hugs were the stuff of legend. He believed that the best days were the ones spent with family – and MORE was always MERRIER. He was a devoted Calgary Flames fan. He loved all music genres including Opera through to Rock & Roll. Warren also loved spending time in his garage puttering - where he could fix just about anything.
While we are heartbroken to lose such wonderful man, we take comfort in knowing that Warren’s vibrant spirit and love for life will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Willow Park Golf and Country Club in Calgary, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the North Shuswap First Responders (nsfrinfo@gmail.com) or to Pace Kids (http://pacekids.ca./donate) in Warren’s memory.
