It is with a heavy heart that the family of Timo Albert Somero, 73, announces his passing on February 10, 2026.
Timo was born in Golden, BC, on June 22, 1952. He lived his formative years in Field, BC, and then graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Physical Education in 1976. He returned to the mountains, Field, and Lake Louise, and worked for Banff National Park, before earning his plumbing license in the 1980’s. In 2004, Timo built his home in the Blaeberry area of Golden. Although he chose not to teach with his degree, he always loved being active with hockey, baseball (Field Mice), hiking and fishing. He was also known for a mean two-step dance at many gatherings. Timo went onto a long career as a Plumber/Pipefitter in the Golden area.
Timo loved his many friends, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He particularly loved his peaceful home and garden in the Blaeberry, with his 2 kitties, Raffey and Nemo. He will be remembered for his hearty laugh, kind heart, and fierce nature.
Timo is survived by his sister, Anne Yurkowski (Russ), his nephew Rob Marshall (Robin), niece Sheena Quinlan (Terence), niece Emily Yurkowski (Scott), and nephew Sam Yurkowski (Danielle).
Godspeed Timo, until we meet again.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Timo's life on April 17, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Hindman Bowers Funeral Home Chapel. Please join us afterward for a reception and time of remembrance. Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
