Terrance Robert "Terry" Wilson of Golden, BC peacefully passed away August 15, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Eastend, Saskatchewan on July 20, 1941 to Norman and Jean Wilson, Terry was the youngest of three siblings, growing up with his brother Barrie and sister Maureen.
Terry moved to Golden, BC after graduating from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1963. It was in Golden that Terry met Genny Rauchert. They were married in 1967 and had two sons, Bob in 1969 and Doug in 1971.
Terry loved working with and helping others. He brought his energy, insight, and entrepreneurial spirit to many ventures over the years. Terry was generous, quick-witted, and a steadfast family man and friend.
Sports were more than a pastime for Terry – they were a lifelong joy both in play and in cheering on his favourite teams. He played hockey into his 60s, including playing for the SAIT Trojans and the original Golden Rockets of the Monashee League in his younger years. As a young man he also played for the Kicking Horse Selects, Golden’s team in the North Okanagan Baseball League. He remained active with the Golden Oldtimers hockey club and later in life was well-known for his passion for golf. Terry also dedicated time to coaching minor baseball, softball, and hockey, positively impacting many young athletes in the community.
Community-minded, Terry was an active member of the Kinsmen Club and the K-40s, contributing to projects such as the curling rink and Kinsmen “Clown” Park. He served as a golf club director during the construction of the “Front 9” and spent many hours rock-picking the 9th fairway with family, friends, and the family dog, Pants. He ran the golf course clubhouse for the first years of the club’s operation.
A devoted husband of 58 years, father, and grandfather, Terry will be deeply missed by his wife Genny, sons Doug (Karen) and Bob (Runa), his grandchildren Viktor and William, his brother Barrie (Sheila), his extended family, and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Maureen (Gord).
We are grateful for the care Terry received at the Golden Hospital from the doctors, nurses, and care staff there. As well, we greatly appreciate the home care workers, nurses, and hospice volunteers who supported Terry and the family after we brought him home to finish his days. We are also forever moved by the outpouring of love, care, and support of family and friends during this time. A celebration of Terry's life will be held in the near future.
