Steve Devai

It is with great sadness that the family of Steve Devai announces his passing at Piccadilly Senior’s Community on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the age of 91.
Steve was born on February 20, 1935 in Hungary to Laszlo and Rozalia. Steve grew up in Hungary and attended boarding school from the age of six until his graduation.
It was a compulsory requirement to join the army at the age of 18, which was fulfilled by Steve.
While he was in the army, Steve made the decision to leave Hungary in 1956. He immigrated and his first stop was England, but it was his desire to relocate to Canada.
Kitimat, B.C. was his final destination where he met Elizabeth, who had also immigrated from Hungary. He worked at Alcan and they remained in Kitimat until 1973, when they moved to the city of Penticton, B.C.
Steve was in the construction industry where he worked for Mariner homes and then Atco. This is what eventually led him to want to build his own homes.
Steve is survived by his spouse Elizabeth, daughter, Tunde (Dennis) Grandchildren, Carrie (Adam) Daniel (Jennifer) and five grandchildren, Linden, Emily, Rylan, Harlow and Lennon.
