It is with deep love that we share the passing of Stephen Barling Wills, following a courageous but short battle with cancer.
Steve was born in East Ham, UK on June 28, 1951. He immigrated with his family to Selkirk, Manitoba in 1957.
A devoted husband to Kathleen Wills and a proud father to Jennifer Derzaph (Kyle) and Victoria Wills (Mike), he was also a loving and proud grandfather to Weston (Jennifer) and William (Victoria). He took great joy in cheering them on, always championing their sports, their curiosity, and whatever they pursued.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Bill Wills, and his brother Nigel Wills.
A retired member of the RCMP, Steve lived a life grounded in service, community, and connection. In Blind Bay, he was an active member of the Veterans Association and a familiar face at the Curling Club and Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Club. He loved sports, time with friends, and being part of something bigger than himself.
Known as the life of the party, Steve had a gift for bringing people together. He thrived in a room full of friends, on a patio after a round of golf, or at any gathering where there was a story to tell or a laugh to share. His energy was infectious, and his presence made things feel just a little more alive.
He leaves behind his brothers, Richard (Shelley) and Paul Wills, his sister-in-law Cindy, several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him deeply. Many who knew and loved him as Uncle Steve.
A celebration of life will be held this summer.
