On March 26, 2023 Shannon passed away peacefully with her family by her side, after a long courageous fight with cancer.
She leaves behind her two daughters Heather and Madison Higginbottom (Micah). Her parents Robert and Roslyn Thernes along with her sisters Diana Thernes (Mike) and Donna Hird (John). As well as her extended family, friends and paramedic crew.
She was a proud single mom, always going above and beyond to create the best life she could give to her daughters. She spent 24 years of her life as a paramedic in Clinton and Salmon Arm, BC. Working hard to help others and to support her family. She will be remembered by her radiant smile, contagious laugh, the positive outlook she had on life, her love for the outdoors, music, art and dance. Words can’t describe the impact she had on people's lives. If you got the chance to meet her you’d know how amazing she truly was, she will be missed dearly.
On behalf of Shannon's family we would like to thank the staff at Bastion Place for going above and beyond to make sure our mom was comfortable for the time she was there. As well as her doctors and palliative team who walked with her through this journey.
Her celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 1pm, at the Comfort Inn hotel in Salmon Arm. We will be having a get together at our house afterwards, if you plan on coming please bring a chair.
Memorial donations can be made in Shannon's name to the SPCA or the Food Bank.
