It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Carol Dryden, who passed away on August 12, 2026, at the age of 84.
Sandra was born on March 27, 1942, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to John Robert Dryden, who was lost during the Second World War in 1944, and Junetta Stella Dryden (Gilker), who predeceased her in 2008.
She leaves behind her three sons, Glenn Van Dyck (Donna), Brian Dyck (Diane), and Jon VanDyke (Tricia); her cherished grandchildren Catherine, James, Maddy, and Hayden; and her great-grandchildren Duncan and Jackson.
Sandra wore many hats throughout her life; chef, cook, manager, farmer, volunteer, but the role she loved most was caring for the people around her. If you visited Sandra, there was a very good chance you weren’t leaving hungry. She had a generous heart, a stubborn streak that kept her going through life’s challenges, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
She loved camping, the outdoors, animals, and especially the simple joy of gathering people together over a good meal and good conversation. Her home and table were always places where everyone was welcome.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Sandra’s granddaughter, Catherine, her sister, Dale, and her eldest son, Glenn, for the tremendous care, love, and dedication they gave Sandra in meeting her day-to-day needs until her passing, and for the countless hours they devoted afterward in caring for her affairs.
The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke for the compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to Sandra and her family during her time there.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
Sandra will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved by those fortunate enough to have shared a meal, a laugh, or a little piece of life with her.
