The family announces the passing of Ronald Gordon King - October 20, 1955 - October 20, 2025, 6 hours into his 70th birthday, after a short stay in the Golden & District Hospital.
Ron was born, raised, lived and died in Golden, B.C. He was ill with significant health challenges over a long period of time and managed them stoically. We are grateful that he is now at peace and released from his pain. Thank you to the caring and supportive staff at the Golden & District Hospital and the Golden Medical Clinic.
Ron entered the workforce at the young age of sixteen. He worked in the forestry industry for a number of decades followed by 10 years at the Golden Golf Club. He found work where and when it was available. Ron thoroughly enjoyed pulling pranks his entire life on friends and family: he loved to laugh and have others laugh along with him. Hard to forget his lovely smile. He loved animals from early childhood and had many pets over the years. Ron got great pleasure from creating a garden retreat in his backyard—a fire pit, fishpond, bird feeders, flower boxes, squirrel feeding stations and of course, politically incorrect signs all added to that atmosphere.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Ron and Frances King (Blanchet) and is survived by his son Martin (Christina) and granddaughters Brooke and Meadow, stepson Leonard Shuter and family, stepdaughter Leona Marie Antoine and family, former wife Tracey Berkopec, sister Judy Reid (Michael) and family; special friend Audrey Ferguson and many friends and cousins.
Ron’s ashes will be interred at the Golden Community Cemetery with his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Hindman Bowers Funeral Home in Golden, BC. We welcome all who would like to attend. Those wishing to honour Ron may make a donation to the BC SPCA as an alternative to flowers.
