Robert "Bob" Sundmark Obituary

Robert Wayne “Bob” was born January 1st in Vernon, B.C. He was the New Year's baby. He lived in Vernon for the first 10 years and made many memories playing with his friends on a sheep farm. The family moved to Canoe, BC to be with the rest of their family.

Bob had one older brother, Brian, and two sisters, Pat and Marjorie. He worked with the forestry for many years as a lookout man on Quest and Mount Lolo fighting fires. He really loved and enjoyed his time up on the mountains.

Bob met his wife Cindy in 1985 and then followed her to Calgary, Alberta. He worked in Calgary as a security guard at the Calgary Health Department. Bob proposed to Cindy in Calgary.

In 1989, Bob and Cindy got married in Salmon Arm. They lived in Kelowna from 1989 to 1995. Bob worked as a security guard at the KLO Campus, Okanagan College, then worked at a service station where he was robbed three times. In 1995, due to health problems, they moved back to Salmon Arm to be closer to family.

Bob enjoyed cooking, loved to bake bread, had fun working in the yard and gardening with everyone. He loved to read and always had a book in his hands. Bob volunteered at the Senior Drop-in Centre across from the old Court House. He also called bingo there and at Canoe. Bob learned how to paint at the Senior Centre and enjoyed painting. Camping was another favourite pastime he enjoyed every year, always with his wife and cat in a tent. Bob had a great love of cats and other animals. However, cats were dear to his heart. Bob also enjoyed fishing with anyone that wanted to go.

He never had any children but loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. Bob enjoyed travelling with his wife and sister-in-law, always with his binoculars looking at the mountains and scenery.

Bob and family really appreciate all those who helped him with his health problems up to his passing. Some caregivers became very dear and special in many ways to Bob and family. Bob passed away April 1, 2025 with his wife and sister-in-law by his side. Bob is pre-deceased by his parents and his brother Brian.
