Baby girl was born on blizzard snowy morning on January 14th 1987, jet black hair and surrounded with amazing love even from her many student nurses just beginning their careers, in humble beginnings Rhaiann lived brief in early years with her father and mother and eventually it became just the three of us, that meaning that her baby sister Jolene was born, Rhaiann took to care and be the big sister to Jolene in which we understand today of what an amazing spirit she was born with, As a little one she loved to dance and play with Cousin Erin, while living here in Chu Chua, she road tripped with her Gpa Eddie and Uncle Earl, and she spent a lot of time with her Gma Louisa and hanging out with them when they moved into their new house, they travelled on vacations and she spent a lot of time being with all our extended family and friends, she attended Neqweyqwelsten school and then we enrolled her at Barriere Elementary school, she did some amazing things at a young age, I proudly posted certificates on our walls, she joined the school choir and sports teams and also went to Brownies, girl guides, her and her sister were the only two girls that joined Cubs Scouts with Tyler and Miles, these four became lifelong friends. As in her early years she would run the reserve like many of us did, gatherings in our families tradition she was able to spent a lot of time between our house, her grandparents' house and uncle Bob’s with her cousins Charity Chanelle Cassidy Chantel Cal Cody along with other young ones here in Chooch and Barriere, as she grew she still loved music and always could hear her singing along with her favorite songs and sometimes the Chu Chua and Barriere Spice Girls practiced and I was able to see their concerts in my living room, with these core young gals and now women. in whom grew together, they sled on the winter nights and hung out in the sun. We moved to Kamloops in between times where she attended John Tod Elementary and Doris Bamford was an amazing Aboriginal support, Rhai was involved in learning to fancy dance, she and Jolene walked or road bikes to school with Cal, who now is their honorary cuz and remained close throughout the years, during elementary one time I was picking them up from school and they were at the Canada Games pool, I got there to “Mom look were helping our friends swim”, as I watched both my daughters, they were helping those with disabilities learn to enjoy the water too, their love for Daylan and Jordan when they were born was amazing to watch, I never seen adaptations of patience of those with special needs and helping her younger cousins, as they spend many other times together. During this time Rhaiann took singing lessons and performed at events at riverside Park, at special occasions, she sang from her heart and still today music helped her in many aspects of her life
Our next move was to Sicamous where another chapter began, she started high school there and within a month a core group of friends of whom they first met always gathered at our home or theirs as a group Between high school along came teen shenanigans, biker boys became young drivers and girls becoming women, these teens were from same background humble and respectful, and their stories mounted of outings in and around Sicamous, one summer Rhai and Jo had a chance to travel to Palm Springs and stay a month with their uncle dale, they stayed with a Mexican family and seen fast n furious roads race scene, Disneyland and also while there they worked part time taking apart and putting together water meters, and through school she experienced a trip to Mexico. With deep sadness in Rhais journey she had some devastating losses but she managed to graduate with honors with her little cousins cheering her on, after graduation she moved to Calgary and came home to support Jolene while pregnant with her niece Elail, She took a human service worker program, worked at our local women’s shelter for several years and had her children and family life for a while, her Daughter Danika has her beauty and her headstrong ways, while her son Quintin has that inner strength of care, and compassion and both of her children are understanding and have unique qualities and traits of their mother, since a young age she followed our family legacy to play fastball, slow pitch and even played snow pitch, she was open to new business ideas and worked hard at every opportunity where she could, throughout her life she suffered from eczema and autoimmune disorders, this all was hard on her physical health, and she struggled to keep finding ways to cope, . I could go on with so many memories of her, so her compassion of life, her wisdom and generosity she helped many along her journey, it’s tough to say goodbye but she has done what she could here and now is at peace with her daughter Nerissa and with other loved ones who embraced her, I truly believe the love and care, is she finally knew, is why we were given the “Rhais of sunshine” after she passed, So her legacy is to be gentle and find moments of peace because even with our hearts broken Rhaiann left her positive spirit for us to help her children and so when you hear a song remember her voice and know she’s dancing with you, My baby girl, I know you are completely free, roam wild and check in on us once and awhile, until we embrace again we’ll always love and remember you, your Momma Bear & Dad
