René J.M. Côté, 87, of Salmon Arm, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He will be missed as a husband of sixty-three years, Father, Grandfather and good friend.
René was born on April 9, 1938, in McLennan, Alberta, to Conrad Côté and Blanch Chevigny. He attended school in Falher, Alberta until grade 10, then continued high school and two post-secondary years at College St-Jean in Edmonton. He became an assessor and married Claudette Bachand in 1961. He finished his career as a County of Camrose Administrator and retired to Salmon Arm in 1993.
René was known for his love of all sports including baseball, hockey, golf, curling, and dragon boating, as well as his dedication to volunteering at the Seniors Resource Centre, helping seniors in different capacities.
René is survived by his younger sister Carmen Belhumeur, his children Michel (Donna), Roger (Tracey), Giselle (Louis), 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, six siblings, son Gilbert and grand-daughter Lauren.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life for René on Jul 6, 2025, at 2:30PM (doors open at 2:00PM) to be held at the 5th Avenue 50Plus Activity Centre in Salmon Arm.
