With sadness we announce the loss of Ramona Wainwright on Monday, November 23, 2020, at 86 years of age in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Pre-deceased by her husband James Wainwright and her son Jamie Wainwright. She is survived by her daughters Tanis Watkins (Kerry) and Lauren Wainwright (Stephen), her sister Dawn Mobley (Bill), and brothers Bruce Mobley (Kay) and Charles Mobley.
Born in Salmon Arm, Ramona obtained her teacher’s certificate in Victoria, B.C., before moving with her husband and family to Toronto. She completed her Bachelors degree at York University, and spent her 30-year teaching career in Toronto where she specialized in early childhood literacy and language skills.
Moving back to her birthplace in 1998 to retire, Ramona enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her home and her cabin on Tappen Beach. Ramona will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Ariel, Damien, Elyse, Ryan and Sean, and by her many nieces and nephews. Cremation has already taken place; an interment service and celebration of Ramona’s life will take place in Salmon Arm at a future date.
