Peter Shular

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter Shular.

Peter was born August 22, 1935 in Wynyard, Saskatchewan – He was the youngest of 11 children. He passed away peacefully at the Golden & District Hospital on January 28, 2025 in his 89th year.

Dad was a very active member of the Golden community for nearly 70 years. He spent his early years as an axillary police officer, ambulance driver, taxi driver and barber. His love of sports had him umpiring softball in the summer and refereeing hocky in the winter. He was also an avid hiker, making his way to the summit of many local mountains. He also was a water dowser, finding many wells in the valley.

In his later years, he joined the Seniors Centre, playing pool and crib weekly.  He also joined the Lions Club and enjoyed volunteering for many events. He was a member of the A&W coffee group of retired gentlemen. He was spotted at the Ramada Inn 3 times a week for exercising. He wanted to stay in shape.

He leaves behind his daughter Salena (Marcel), their 3 children and 3 great grandchildren. His son Dale (April) and their 4 children. His daughter- in- law, Sunni, who was married to his middle son Ian.

Peter was predeceased by his wife Denise (2017) and his son Ian (2018).

He will be missed by all that knew him, however briefly. He was a true “Gentleman”.

A funeral service will be held at the Golden Seniors Centre on Thursday, February 6th, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
