Peter Klymchuk left this world peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 90. He was surrounded by his loving family at Good Samaritan Hillside Village.
Peter was born on January 17, 1935, in Scotswood, Alberta, the first son of Harry and Katie Klymchuk. He grew up in Hines Creek, Alberta, where on July 5, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Zarowny. Together, they raised three sons: Rick, Dale, and Todd. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and a hearty laugh. He cherished family gatherings, and his presence on holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him.
Peter had many passions, including curling, bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. Most of all, he loved family get-togethers. While he was known for his strong sense of responsibility, his sense of humor could catch you off guard.
After high school, he built a diverse career in equipment operating, forestry services, farming, and the oil and gas industry. These skills led him to an opportunity to travel abroad to Scotland, where he spent three years working offshore. He truly loved his work and built lasting friendships in both Scotland and Canada.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his children, Rick (Margo), Dale, Todd (Carrie) and Darleen; eight grandchildren; and ten precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Fred, Melvin, and Don, and his sisters, Helen Grant, Lil Phillips, Shirley Geiger, and Sylvia LaFontaine, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. Peter was predeceased by his father, Harry; his mother, Katie; and his brother, Lenard.
On Saturday, April 25, a short graveside service will be held at 11:45 AM at the Mount IDA Cemetery located at 2290 Foothill Rd SW, Salmon Arm, BC, followed by a Celebration of Life at the ELKS HALL, located at 3690 30 St NE, Salmon Arm, BC. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
Peter was a member of the Salmon Arm Elks Lodge #455 for 55 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Salmon Arm Elks Lodge #455 or the Salmon Arm Royal Purple #279 in Peter's memory.
Rest in peace Peter. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
