Paul Richard Maas, 90 passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026 in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada.
Paul was born on August 1st, 1936 to Richard and Hilda Maas in London, England. Paul studied Architecture and met the love of his life, Pat, whom he was married to for 60 years. They fell in love almost instantly after seeing one another across a crowded dance-hall - and were lifelong partners. Pat and Paul had 4 children in England and then set out on their adventures in the United States where they had their last child. After a few years they moved North and lived out the rest of their lives in Canada. Paul was an architect for over 40 years with a Masters in Urban Planning and a PhD in Architecture.
Paul was a loving, kind father and husband although he was not prone to brevity; in fact, his children would tell their friends “don’t ask my dad the time, he’ll give you the history of clocks.” But, despite his jokes, everyone loved Paul’s stories, no matter how many times they heard them.
Paul was predeceased by his Wife, Patricia (Pat), his Daughter Sandra, his mother, Hilda, his father Richard and his sister Jean. He is survived by his children: Richard, Penny, Andrew and Justin (and their spouses: Cheri, Richard, Aileen and Maggie, respectively) and his brother, Robert. He had ten grand children and several great grand children.
In his last few days he often reminisced: “I’ve lived a good, happy, fulfilling life.”
We should all be so lucky.
