Ole Hansen passed away peacefully at Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm early Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born in Ryslinge, Denmark and is predeceased by his parents Laurits and Abelone, brothers Kai (Inge), Erik (Esther), and sister Eva (Arne). He is survived by his wife Gullan Hansen and two sons Niels Hansen (Nicole Beaulieu), and Tom Hansen (Kim Johnston), grandchildren Jessica, Lucas and Kai, and brother Otto (Margrethe).
Ole worked in the farming, construction and forest industry in Denmark, Norway, USA, and Canada. He moved to Norway in 1955, Alberta in 1958, and California in 1962 where he met Gullan and had their two boys. In 1974 they moved to Idaho before immigrating to Canada in 1976. After a short stay in Alberta the family moved to BC in 1977 and settled soon after in the Larch Hills where they stayed for the next 45 years. Ole was one of the first volunteer track setters at the Larch Hills cross country ski area for many years. He will be remembered as a very kind, generous and hard-working person, loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Larch Hills Ski Chalet on Sunday, April 30th, 2023.
