Norman Smith

Norman Smith was born on March 31, 1934, in Vernon, BC, to Susan Shuttleworth Edwards Smith and Francis Smith.  Norman has one sibling, a sister Isabel Smith Burgemaster of Vernon, BC.

Norman married the late Mildred Kenoras and they had five children: Joyce Kenoras Smith, Lisa Smith, Vanessa Smith Tso, Roger Smith, and the late Gina Smith. Together they had 11 grandchildren and continued family gatherings although they were divorced, and Mildred remarried Albert Hourie.

Norman lived his life in Vernon and area, working as a logger and often in orchards in the US.  Norman, a landowner was keen on hunting, fishing and in his younger days loved to play baseball and hockey. He seems to have passed this love onto his grandchildren and great grandchildren as three are keen hockey players.  Norman loved music and often would “jam” locally, being dubbed in fun as “Stormin Norman.”

Norman spent his later years in assisted living and complex care, and the family thanks his helpers who took good care of him.

Norman passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, and his funeral will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Horizons at Okanagan Band on Westside Rd, Vernon, BC.   He will be interred at Komasket family cemetery, OKIB.

Norman will be sadly missed by his family but we know he is joining other ancestors on his next journey.
