Norma Sharp Obituary

Norma Harvey MacDonald Sharp passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2021 in Revelstoke BC. She was in her favorite armchair with her loving husband Jim Sharp in his beside her holding her hand.

Norma was born in Ontario on June 20th, 1936 into a family of 7.  She had a previous marriage with one child Heather, who passed at the age of 21.  Norma was a farm girl born in a simpler time, she was very practical, strong, savvy, witty, kind, loving and giving, and let us not forget her sense of humour.  She worked hard and never complained no matter what she was suffering through. She spent many hours tending her gardens and watching the birds and wildlife out her front window in the Big Eddy Tum Tum.

She moved to Brooks Alberta in 1980 where she met Jim, who had also just moved out from Ontario. They moved to Revelstoke a few months later where they stayed and built a wonderful life together. They married in 1985 in the back yard of their house in the Big Eddy which expanded her family to include his 4 children, Grover Sharp (Teresa), Wanetta Stroo (Marty), Alan, and Dee Fitzmaurice (Mike). She was a wonderful stepmother and was always happy to help with baby sitting the grandkids or what may have been needed. She was known as Nana to 7 Grandkids and 5 Great Grandkids and was always a kind and loving presence in their life.

Jim and Norma had many adventures together including, an Alaskan cruise, much camping and games night with good friends often referred to as FIGHT NIGHT. Norma enjoyed going to the Baptist Church, and being part of the Wise Owls, who donated their time the Cancer dressings (as Norma called it). She was well loved and will be missed by many!

We would also like to mention that the reason she was able to die so peacefully and lovingly at home was due to the dedicated, wonderful, amazing, kind and very caring Dr’s and Nurses involved in the MAiD program. For those that do not know it is Medical Assistance in dying and is for those suffering intolerably from disease or illness. For any information on this service please email MAiD@interiorhealth.ca or call 250-469-7073 in Kelowna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Hospice Society, P.O. Box 3133, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Norma.
