It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our Neal on May 31, 2024, in the Salmon Arm Hospital, after a short battle with cancer.
On January 23, 1952, Neal was born in Edmonton, after a long drive from Warburg on a cold Alberta night. He spent his early years growing up in Warburg, where his parents owned, ran, and lived above their store. This was Neal's introduction to entrepreneurship, by helping in the store and assisting customers. Unfortunately, this store burned to the ground, leaving the family with only the few contents they could carry out. From here the family moved to Drayton Valley to start over. Neal was involved in the family businesses throughout his entire life. In the late 1960’s and the early 1970’s the family business was selling farm equipment and Yamaha motorcycles. Neal took a keen interest in being able to test drive the Yamaha motorcycles which he loved. This led Neal to Spearheading a precision motorcycle riding club. When this business sold, Neal worked with his father in the Sand and Gravel Company. Neal then headed to NAIT and achieved honors as a Civil Engineer. From here he worked briefly in Civil Construction until 1974 when Neal and his father decided to merge the Sand and Gravel business with a concrete business. This established a new operation for the Drayton Valley area. In 1989, the businesses were sold which opened a new opportunity for Neal to pull up stakes and step into a whole new endeavor, moving to Mara Lake, B.C. This new adventure with Neal, Read and Murray allowed them to purchase two campgrounds, which eventually turned into their dream of Club Mara Resort. Upon completion of Club Mara, the boys went back to their passion of the Ready-Mix Concrete business in 2002. Neal embraced the continuing growth of the Salmon Arm area. He was a highly successful businessman and had an amazing sense of humor.
Neal and Sheryl finally found true happiness with each other and were married July 16, 2016, at Club Mara Resort; where they enjoyed entertaining, campfires with many good friends, listening to the various birds and playing crib on their deck.
He is survived by his loving wife Sheryl, Stepdaughters Brooklyn Lydyniuk, Kirstyn (Carlin Mastrangelo) Lydyniuk, Kelsey (Joey) Fay (Elliot), Siblings Read (Jackie), Murray (Tracey), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Margrette LaTosky, sisters Janet and Lorrie, brother Grant, and his second wife Cindy LaTosky.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am July 20, 2024, at Club Mara Resort. We welcome everyone to come celebrate Neal’s life.
Neal has left behind a wonderful legacy in Club Mara Resort. It is one of the premiere and best-designed resorts in all of the Shuswap. It will be an enduring legacy that many will benefit from for generations to come.
Neal will forever be missed. Thank you to everyone for all the love and support shown to us in this time of great loss.
