Myrna Jean Henderson (Harrod) born April 26, 1938, passed away November 23, 2022, in Durand Manor.
Predeceased by her husband Charles (Chuck), Myrna leaves behind three children, Catherine, Craig, and Cole Henderson. She also leaves the real passions of her life, her three grandchildren, Justin Dillon (Catherine) and Charlotte & Malcom Henderson (Cole).
Myrna was born in Dawson Creek, B.C. and after graduating went on to complete RN training at Royal Columbia School of Nursing. Moving back to Dawson Creek she met and married Chuck. The Henderson family moved to Golden in 1978. Myrna worked at Durand Manor as an RN loving the job because of the people at and in Durand. She volunteered her time at St. Andrew’s thrift store where she was in charge of buttons and books. As a self-described “booker” Myrna believed that while literacy was vitally important to everyone it was a skill that needed to start early. To that end she volunteered at Lady Grey Elementary contributing to their literacy program for which she was recognized.
When your heart breaks because you must leave your parent in another’s care, thank-you falls so noticeably short of the mark. Nevertheless, we offer this small word to the staff at Mountain View Lodge, Ivy House, and Durand Manor. At Mom’s request there will not be a funeral – she wanted her ashes spread with Dad’s. We believe that if you want to remember Mom – buy someone a book or, better yet, help someone with their reading.
