Michael (Rolly) Holowaty Obituary
Michael “Rolly” Holowaty passed away unexpectedly on September 15th, 2026 at the age of 83 years old.
Rolly was born July 17th, 1943 in Armstrong, BC. His childhood was full of adventures in and around the area. This is where he discovered an early love and talent for baseball. After playing for several teams in Armstrong he was selected to play for the Vernon Juniors, known as the Celery City Lads.
In 1962 he moved to Revelstoke, where he was offered at job at Ken’s Columbia Service Station and a place on the Revelstoke Carlings baseball team. Revelstoke became home for the rest of his life, apart from the six years he and his family spent in Mica Creek.
Rolly enjoyed travelling with the love of his life Wanda, especially on bus tours and trips to see some of Country Music’s great performers. Inspired by the music he loved, Rolly taught himself how to play the guitar. He could often be found playing and singing for family and friends.
Outgoing and personable, Rolly gave his love and devotion to his family. He loved being involved in his grandchildren's lives and attended as many of their games and activities as he could. He especially loved spending summers with Wanda at their cabin on the Shuswap surrounded by family and friends.
Rolly enjoyed being active and spending time with people. He was a longtime member of the Golf Course where he took part in many club events. At the Senior Centre he developed a passion for darts and enjoyed playing pool. He would spend hours in the bush picking huckleberries with his buddies.
Rolly touched the lives of many with his infectious laugh, twinkle in his eyes and his gift for making anyone he spoke to feel like an old friend. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Wanda of over 60 years; his parents Mildred and Mike; his sister Anne; and his Son-in-Law Bruce.
Rolly is survived by his loving children; daughter Lynda; son Roland (Julie); his five grandchildren Michael, Molly (James), Kate (Brendan), Blake (Anna), and Anika; and his great-grand daughter Remi (Molly/James). Along with many friends who were blessed to know him, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Until we meet again, We LOVE you very much.
In honour of Rolly’s request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Legion. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared by the family once finalized.
