Melvin Leroy Watkins passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm British Columbia. Born on January 15, 1932, in Salmon Arm. Melvin lived a life surrounded by kindness, and love and will be remembered with gratitude for his diligent and dedicated soul whose unwavering hard work and commitment left a lasting legacy of inspiration
Melvin is survived by his beloved spouse, Louise LaRose Watkins (Moore), and his two daughters, Penni Leigh (Kim) and Cindi Blair (Gordie). He was also a proud grandfather to his treasured grandchildren: Tyler Magnusson (Malia), Elizabeth Blair, Carissa Bloomer, Janaya Magnusson, Kelsie Stevens (Craig), and great grandchildren Coen, Natalie, Cole, Ava, Asher, and Maci,
Melvin's warmth, humor, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him.
He will be remembered for his generous spirit and his commitment to his family and friends.
A private family celebration of life will be held. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the support to the staff at Mt. Ida Mews and Shuswap Lake General Hospital who cared for Mel in his final days and hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to local community charities in Melvin's memory.
