Maxine Rosena Codd (nee Miller) passed away March 20, 2026, at the age of 92, in Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
Maxine was born in Salmon Arm B.C. on October 25, 1933. She was the eldest of 3 daughters born to Wesley & Rose Miller. They lived in Notch Hill & she described her time there as “fun on the farm”.
After graduating highschool, she worked at a bank in Kamloops. Maxine met and married Julian Codd from Tappen. Together they raised 5 children. They farmed alongside his parents Ed & Evelyn Codd and later on their own.
Maxine was an extremely hard worker. As well as participating in all aspects of the farm, she sewed clothes for her family (especially dress shirts for Julian), made delicious meals, kept a garden, preserved foods & even made home-made gingerale & root beer. She won awards at the Salmon Arm Fall Fair for her sewing & baking. Family favs were her buns, cinnamon buns, melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies & those famous angel food birthday cakes.Maxine enjoyed her community service with the local Ladies’ Aid.
She also taught sewing at the Tappen Tuckers & sponsored a boys’ bowling team.
Maxine was a member of the Shuswap Quilters’ Guild. Her artistry shone through in her beautiful quilts. She enjoyed bowling & gardening, family drives & her long car journeys with her sister in-law Joyce. Weiner roasts & family gatherings at Maxines’ were always anticipated & were boisterous events. She loved the constant company of her dog R.D. & her cat Rip.Maxine is survived by her daughters Cindy (Larry), Sharon (Brian) & Cathy (Kris), her 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and her sister Pat. She was predeceased by her husband Julian, her sons Doug and Reuben, & her sister Kay.
Maxine will be greatly missed.
A deep thank you to the staff of the Mt. Ida Mews & Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
