Maryellen Langlois passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on January 6, 1956, in Edmonton, Alberta.
A devoted mother of five and grandmother of five, Maryellen was truly the heart of the Langlois family. Deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, she was known for her kindness, warmth, and unconditional love. To know her was to love her.
Maryellen grew up in Provost, Alberta, with her parents Winifred and Richard, and her siblings Teresa, Richard, and Einar. After graduating high school, she attended Camrose College, studying bookkeeping—a skill she would carry with pride throughout her life.
During that time, she met Raymond Langlois. They quickly fell in love, married, and began building a beautiful family together. The couple ran a motel in Coronation, Alberta, where Maryellen balanced caring for her children with managing the business, including housekeeping and guest relations.
In 1987, Maryellen made the courageous decision to start a new chapter, moving with her five children to Cochrane, Alberta. There, she began working on the Morley Reserve at a place known as The Trading Post—a gas station, grocery store, and lunch stop. One of the biggest perks was being able to bring her children to work when needed.
A few years later Mary found a job position as a bookkeeper at a place called Cochrane Rentals, she was very excited to put her schooling to work and truly loved what she did.
A few years into her working at Cochrane Rentals she was asked out on a date by the owner of Cochrane rentals Murray Dyck.
They fell in love with each other over dancing to Country music, their love for the great outdoors and their love for hard work and their love and dedication to their children. After about a year of dating they decided to move in together.
Maryellen became a second mom to many of her children’s friends, earning the beloved title of "the mom of all moms."
Once the children had grown up and moved out, Maryellen and Murray sold their business and home in Cochrane, bought a fifth-wheel camper, and hit the open road. They traveled extensively across Canada and the U.S., embracing adventure and making countless memories.
After two years on the road, they settled on a farm near Donalda, Alberta. Maryellen returned to bookkeeping and loved hosting family celebrations at the farm, surrounded by the joy and laughter of those she loved most.
Tragically, on June 21, 2013, she lost the love of her life, Murray, to a heart attack. Just shy of a year later, on June 14, 2014, her eldest daughter Tina passed away from a brain aneurysm. These heartbreaking losses tested Maryellen's strength, but with resilience and support, she carried on—always keeping Tina and Murray close in her heart.
Eventually, Maryellen sold the farm and moved to Salmon Arm, British Columbia. She began working at Walmart, where she held several roles and formed lasting friendships. She loved visiting her children in Donalda, Cochrane, Kelowna, and Hawaii, staying connected through texts, phone calls, and cherished visits.
In Salmon Arm, she also enjoyed spending time with family Steven, Sherry, and Haylee Machell. She deeply valued her visits with Steve and Sherry and adored watching her granddaughter Haylee grow into the remarkable young woman she is today.
In late August 2025, Maryellen fell ill. After undergoing tests, she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The disease progressed quickly, but she remained surrounded by love until the very end.
Maryellen will always be remembered for her generous spirit, infectious kindness, and deep devotion to her family and friends.
