Mary Vivian (D'Appolonia) Bradshaw

It is with reverence and sadness that the family of Mary Vivian Bradshaw announces her passing on Wednesday June 10 at the age of 92.

Mom (Nona, Gramma, Nanna) will be lovingly remembered by her children Kristal (Sean), Geoff (Leisa), Karl (Wendy), their families and her friends. Mom, being the youngest in her family, was predeceased by her parents (Edward and Maria D’Appolonia), two brothers (Adelchie and Gino D’Appolonia), and her two sisters (Alma Podetz and Ines Farmer). Mom lived 9 years longer than dad who died in 2017.

Mom was born in Coleman on March 3, 1934 and grew up there and Creston. Mom attended the Convent of St. Michael’s parish in Pincher Creek where, in 1953, she graduated top of her class. Mom then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta in 1959. Mom moved to the Rossland/Trail area to practice her vocation. Although she did not intend to stay long, she met and married Norman Bradshaw and together, they raised a family in the Rossland/Trail area.

Mom’s family, including her dogs, her music and her Catholic faith were the pillars of her life – she held them close and cherished. Mom was involved in her community as a Hospice volunteer and with the community and church choirs. She was also passionate about quilting, hiking, picking huckleberries, backpacking, canoeing and anything else that would get her into the great outdoors.

A Catholic mass will be said on July 10 beginning at 2:00PM at St. Francis Assisi (510 MacKenzie Avenue, Revelstoke) followed by a lite snack in the church hall.

We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for the kindness and care provided by the many Care Aides and nursing staff at Mount Cartier Court and Moberly Manor as well as Dr. MacLeod who took such great care of our mom.

Donations in honour of mom can be made to the Revelstoke Hospice Society or the Revelstoke Humane Society.
