Mari “Jamie” Felhauer passed peacefully at home on February 26, 2026, at the age of 79.
Jamie was born on September 24, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, to Roy and Orpha Kinzie, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Peter Rea.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Doug Felhauer; her son, Cameron Rea; her daughter, Michelle Rea; her 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
At the age of 18, Jamie moved to Cariboo, where her adventurous spirit and love for the land began to shape the life she would build. She met Doug in 1983, and the two married in 1987. Together they shared many adventures, including managing a guest ranch in the Chilcotin and working on the C3 Cattle Ranch outside of Lillooet before finally settling in Silver Creek in 1995.
In Silver Creek, Jamie and Doug operated a U-Catch fish farm for ten years. During this time, Jamie became deeply involved in her community and environmental stewardship. She served as Chair of the Salmon River Watershed Roundtable, President of the Silver Creek Community Association, and was a member of the City of Salmon Arm Environmental Advisory Committee. She also served on the Parks Commission for Area D and contributed many years to the Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE), first as a volunteer and later as Director of the Beef Division.
Jamie will be remembered for her dedication to her community, her love of the land, and her generous spirit. In her final years, she found great joy and peace tending to her garden.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Silver Creek Senior's Hall on March 21st at 12:00 p.m.
