Madonna (Donna) Schulte Obituary

Donna was born in Kelsey, Alberta, the youngest of eleven children.  She grew up on a farm in the days when her mother cooked on a wood stove and there were always lots of people around. When she was 12 years old her parents moved to a farm in Tappen.  From there they moved into Salmon Arm where Donna attended high school and played on the basketball team.  By Grade 11 she tired of school and began working at Little River Fishing Camp, cooking and cleaning.  Future moves took her to Prince George and back to Camrose.

When Donna was 22 she was visiting her brother in Mabel Lake, where she met her future husband, Ron.  After a whirlwind romance they were married and spent the next several years in Mabel Lake, Enderby, Ashton Creek and Grindrod.

In the early 70’s Ron and Donna moved with their three children to the Quesnel area and farmed until moving to Chase in 1988 and then Abbotsford 13 years later.  Ron died in 2014 and four years later Donna moved to Andover Retirement Resort to be near her son John and her childhood roots.

Donna was not afraid of adventure – she traveled to India three times to visit Darlene and her grandchildren, and in her 80’s took her adult children and spouses to Cuba, then joined them in a later trip to Cancun.  We celebrated her 90th birthday one year early with a trip to the Rose Bowl Parade and Disneyland.

Her cheerful spirit and attitude of gratitude made it easy for people to love her and want to be her friend.  While living at Andover, her name was often the first on the sign-up list for bus rides and activities.  She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.

Donna was predeceased by her husband Ron, her parents and siblings, and granddaughter Victoria Daniels.  She leaves behind her daughter Darlene Daniels, sons John (Noreen) and Jim (Yvonne), 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren,  and a lasting legacy of faith, joy, and gratitude.
