Lyle Donaldson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lyle Donaldson of Golden B.C. in the Golden Hospital on July 10th, 2021.

He was born November 23rd, 1936, in Neepawa Manitoba. When he was young, his parents Clarence and Margaret Donaldson moved the family to Kimberley B.C where his father worked at the Kimberly mine. He met his future wife Elaine there and they were married on August 31st, 1957. They spent their early marriage in Wasa B.C. and Kimberley before moving with their two children David and Lauri to Golden in 1967. The family settled in the Blaeberry area in 1969 where Lyle and Elaine lived the rest of their lives.

Lyle and Elaine fostered children there for over a decade. They adopted two more children, Valerie and Joseph during that time. In the years after, they opened their family run Bed and Breakfast. It was called the Redburn Valley and they enjoyed hosting people from all over the world. They decided to close its doors due to Elaine's declining health.

Lyle loved to get out on the road in his camper van and was able to get out on some trips to visit family and see places from times gone by. Lyle enjoyed leather working and always kept his saddles and chaps in excellent condition. He loved being outdoors, whether he was suntanning, growing potatoes or going for a trail ride.

After his COPD worsened, he wasn't able to get out as much, opting for alternative pastimes such as a good tv program, a good cup of coffee, or a good conversation with family members and home care.

Lyle was predeceased by his father Clarence, his mother Margaret and his wife Elaine. He leaves behind A son David (Lori) Donaldson daughter Lauri (Vernon) LeCerf, daughter Valerie Corneau- Donaldson and Joseph Donaldson. He leaves grandchildren Brian, Marc Travis Eva Amy Rachael Kaylin Jamie Lawrence Cecile and Tamika. He also leaves great grandchildren Ava, Allie, Noah, Landon, Liam and Emmersyn.

It was hard to say goodbye to our dad and Grandpa, but we know that someday we will see him again.

(Probably on a horse. A horse that doesn't steal tobacco out of people's pockets --)

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
