Lucille Mintz leaves us with memories to both fill our hearts and fuel our futures. She loved to talk, laugh and keep up with everyone’s news. The hockey, curling and skating rinks saw lots of her as both a participant and a spectator. She was an avid gardener, peonies being her latest favourite. Whenever possible she would be outside.
Lucille grew up in McBride. However, spent most of her life in the Tete Jaune and Valemount areas where their four sons were raised. When all the kids were grown and gone, they migrated to Sorrento, where she and Dale began a whole new adventure in their beautiful log home.
Lucille leaves behind her four boys Carl (Diane), Kevin (Jackie), Dale (Jamie) and Mitch (Sean), brothers Bob (Heather) and Mike (Carol) brother-in-law Art Cochrane and six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband Dale Mintz, her parents, Art and Ila (nee Fuglem) Callaghan, her sister Marilyn Cochrane and her nephew Garrett Callaghen, along with numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Lucille arrived at Salmon Arm hospital Sept 12th and after several tests she was diagnosed with cancer. Lucille was transferred to the North Okanagan Hospice where she died on Thursday, October 23,2025 listening to Johnny Reid’s tunes with Mitch, Diane and Kendra keeping her company.
The Mintz family is incredibly grateful for the loving care and the kindness of everyone from both the hospital and hospice staff and volunteers. You are amazing, compassionate and professional.
A special thank you to the gardening volunteers at the North Okanagan Hospice Society for providing such a beautiful sanctuary.
