Louise Nagle Obituary

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Nagle, beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, teacher, and friend. Louise passed away on October 6th peacefully at home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and dedication to family.

Louise was born minutes after her twin sister Karen on December 1, 1941 in New Westminster, to parents John and Audrey Myhre, who were surprised by the arrival of twins. The sisters remained close throughout their lives, growing up side by side, raising families, and sharing adventures.

After graduating from high school, Louise had aspirations of becoming a journalist. However, a scholarship offer from UBC led her to pursue a career in Education, a path that would define her life.

Louise began her teaching career in Coquitlam, but in 1963, followed her adventurous spirit to the small mountain town of Golden, BC, at the invitation of her dear friend Florence Wright. It was there that she met her future husband, Geoff Nagle, at a teacher’s convention in Cranbrook in 1965. They married on August 12, 1967, at the Anglican Church in Golden.

Before settling down, Louise and Geoff traveled extensively through Europe, nurturing their shared love of exploring new places. Together, they later welcomed their two children, Heather (1973) and Cameron (1974).

Louise taught for over 30 years in schools throughout the district. She was a passionate and gifted educator who taught Grade 2, Grade 3, Special Education, and worked as a Gifted and Enrichment teacher. She had a positive impact on her students, many of whom remember her as their favourite teacher. Louise brought laughter, warmth, and creativity into every classroom. She also treasured the camaraderie of her fellow teachers and was always at the heart of school pranks and playful mischief.

Louise had a lifelong love for travel. Alongside Geoff, she explored Malaysia, Hawaii, the United States, and much of Europe. She embraced new places and experiences with curiosity and joy.

Above all, Louise will be remembered as a thoughtful, generous, and devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. She gave her love freely and made everyone around her feel valued.

She is survived by her loving husband Geoff, her children Heather (Doug) and Cameron (Kori), her sister Karen (Don), and her four grandchildren Ella, Myre, Scout and Findlay as well as extended family and dear friends who will miss her tremendously.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held on at a future date in the spring or summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Abbeyfield House Society.

“Look to this day:

For it is life, the very life of life.

In its brief course

Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.

The bliss of growth,

The glory of action,

The splendour of achievement

Are but experiences of time.

For yesterday is but a dream

And tomorrow is only a vision;

And today well-lived, makes

Yesterday a dream of happiness

And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well therefore to this day.”
