Lloyd Garner Obituary

Lloyd was a deeply spiritual man who faithfully shared God’s love with everyone he encountered. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and was loved and admired by many. The impact of Lloyd’s life will be felt for years to come, as his faith, wisdom, and generosity touched countless hearts.

If Lloyd wasn’t sharing his love of God, you could likely find him at a swap meet, proudly marketing his collectibles—Coke memorabilia, Batman treasures, and many other cherished finds. Although, he seemed to have more fun collecting than selling! This life-long passion for collecting was a way for him to connect with people. Through conversation, laughter, and storytelling, Lloyd left lasting impressions wherever he went.

Lloyd was very well educated and based his career on strengthening families. He worked as a pastor and with the Ministry of Children and Families, where he demonstrated dedication, integrity, and a strong work ethic. He approached both his work and his life with purpose, striving always to reflect his faith in everything he did.

Lloyd and his beloved late wife, Genevive Elaine Garner, shared a deep commitment to helping others. Together, they chose to change the world of three children by giving them the opportunity to become part of their family and build a life in Canada. Lloyd was a devoted father who strove to impart his deep faith in God to Joshua, Josiah and Makayla. He always did what he thought was best for them. He was also a deeply committed and loving husband who faithfully walked beside Gen through her final steps with strength, compassion, and grace.

Even while facing his own health challenges, Lloyd leaned continually on God for strength, wisdom, and patience—always praising Him and giving Him the glory. One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with God through prayer, Bible reading and listening to worship music.

Lloyd will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous spirit, strength of character, big heart, warm smile, sparkling eyes, and infectious laugh. His legacy lives on through the many stories he shared, and the treasured memories held by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his precious wife, Genevive Elaine Garner, and his parents, Bramwell and Marjorie Garner, and nephews, Paul Bramwell Jr., Wayne Daniel Garner.

He is survived by his children, Joshua, Josiah, and Makayla; his brothers, Paul and Wayne (Cindy); his nieces and nephew, Amanda, Matthew (Victoria), and Allison Garner; sister, Yvonne Loewen (Randy); In-laws, Randy and Sharlene Wheeler, nephews Jesse (Anna), Kyle (Cerise), Mike Wheeler, niece, Gabrielle, nephew, Noah. Mary Anne (Herb) Dietrich, and 6 great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Lloyd’s special friends and supporters, including his Men’s Covenant Community Group, Darcy and Jody Kuhn, Manley and Linda Fredland, and Brian and Nancy Rhodenizer, for their faithful encouragement and presence in his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation in Lloyd’s memory.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on March 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Brower’s Funeral Home, 440 10 St. SW, Salmon Arm, BC.

We are all blessed for having walked this earth with our brother and his love will remain with us always.
