Lenora Ethel Fogarty, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Shuswap Lake Hospital on March 6, 2025 after making a valiant effort to recover from surgery necessitated by a serious fall. She left this world to join the family members that predeceased her in their shared eternal home. Lenora was a strong, strong-willed, spirited woman with a keen sense of humour and zest for life.
Lenora’s life journey began in Prince George, BC on August 15, 1935. Her early years were spent in Wells, BC where she met her husband, Roy. After a few years living in Wells, came subsequent moves to Hope, Britannia Beach, Kitsault and finally Squamish for work. In addition to raising three children, Lenora had a full working life which included waitressing, various roles in an office environment, and a lengthy career as a clerk-supervisor for the Squamish Detachment of the RCMP. Lenora retired in May 1994 and set out to pursue her passion and talent for painting and other art. Her works adorn the walls of her children, grandchildren and many others.
Post-retirement, Lenora and Roy re-located to Princeton, BC. After Roy’s passing in February, 1997, Lenora continued to live in Princeton along with her daughters Rita and Patti until a move, in November, 2023, to Andover Retirement Resort in Salmon Arm, BC. As it turned out, Salmon Arm would be the final stop of her life-long journey on this earth.
Lenora will be sadly missed by her children Reg (Sandy), Rita, and Patti (Jerry); her grandchildren Chris (Adina), Adria (Serge), Sean (Kylie), Rory and Molly; other members of her extended family; and many close friends and acquaintances.
As Lenora would regularly declare to anyone who would listen: “God has a plan for me!” When God called on March 6th, 2025, Lenora willingly went along.
The family would like to thank Dr. Helen Imolele, the surgeons and physicians and nursing staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, and the physicians and nursing staff of Shuswap Lake Hospital for their treatment, compassion and caring during Lenora’s hospitalization. Additionally, the family would like to thank the management, staff and residents at Andover Terrace Retirement Resort for their friendship and support during her time as a resident.
A gathering of family and close friends will be arranged at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Lenora’s name to the Canadian Lung Association.
