Remembering Kelly Lynne Lazar
Kelly loved music, dancing, and travel. In high school, a yearlong Rotary exchange took her to four homes in Australia; her hosts became family, with visits spanning generations. A call meant for Don’s brother introduced them. When his brother found a girlfriend, Kelly called Don back to ask him to hang out. He sounded like a nice guy. They married in Abinger Hammer, England, before a Eurorail honeymoon. Together they raised three boys, the heart of Kelly’s life. She was fiercely loyal to and supportive of them.
Summers meant adventures with the Rabbitt and Austin families, selling lemonade at festivals with her son, or reeling in salmon on a BC river. Kelly loved long hikes (including walks to the bench), Eagle travel trailer trips with Don, and long motorcycle rides. Her travels spanned the globe: Europe, Thailand, Bali, New Zealand, Peru, Mexico and, on her last trip, Italy.
She earned a teaching certificate from SFU and later became licensed in securities. She was sharp, capable and optimistic. She never drank alcohol, yet was often the life of the party. She had little need for lavish things and was genuinely grateful for what she had.
Kelly was “classy, sassy and a bit smart assy.” She was also Mama Girl, Momzy, and Angel.
She was excited to be reunited with her son Shane, her parents, and all the loved ones taken far too soon.
