- Katsuko (Kats) Hosokawa (nee Suda) Mrs. Katsuko (Kats) Hosokawa passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 24, 2012 in Piccadilly Care Residence at the age of 97 years. Born in Steveston, BC on July 27, 1914, she was relocated to Roseberry, BC in early 1942, later moving to New Denver, then to Tappen in 1947, Salmon Arm in 1957, then moving into the Shuswap Lodge Retirement Residence in 2003, with moves later to Pioneer Lodge and Piccadilly Care. She lived a full live, is well remembered and respected for her quiet manner, love of gardening and passion in her artistic work. She was predeceased by her husband, Yoichiro Hosokawa in 1972, four sons, twins Gordon and Douglas Hosokawa, Arthur Hosokawa and David Munroe; a granddaughter, Kelly Van (Pidgeon); two sister's Hideko Adachi and Sussie Seki, and two brother's, Kikuo Suda and Toru Suda. Kats leaves her loving family of eight children; Ellen (Wayne) Taylor of Vancouver, Alfred (Cindy) Hosokawa of Courtney, Ann (Tom) Tanemura of Salmon Arm, Christine Hosokawa (Joe Labonte-Smith) of Salmon Arm, Esther Hobbs of Kelowna, Bonnie (Philip) Piggford of Victoria, Richard (Janet) Hosokawa of Victoria, Nana (Gary) Clayton of Chase; two daughter in laws, Karen Hosokawa of Kelowna and Pauline Munroe of Calgary; and her brother, Muts (Tomi) Suda of Vancouver; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will gather for a graveside service in the family plot at Mt. Ida Cemetery where she will be interred next to her husband. A celebration of life service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Saturday, February 11th at 12 noon with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant, assisted by members of her family sharing tributes. A reception will follow in the Mountainside room at Bowers, allowing time for family and friends to continue sharing memories. In lieu of flowers and koden, memorial donations may be made to the Piccadilly Care Centre, 821 10th ave. S.W. Salmon Arm, BC VIE 1T2, attention: Barb Greenhough, Recreation Department, please indicate for Activity Fund.
