After years of living with dementia, Judith Anne Vigue (Tillen) gained her wings June 11, 2025.
Born on June 12, 1941, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Judy spent her early years in the rural communities of Lardeau, Trout Lake, Arrowhead, and Revelstoke. These small towns helped influence her appreciation for simplicity and shaped the resilient, creative, and warm-hearted woman she became.
After graduating from high school, she attended the Royal Inland Hospital School of Nursing in Kamloops, where she proudly earned her designation as a registered nurse. Exactly one week after graduating, she married the love of her life, Bob Vigue.
Judy cared deeply for others. She worked at both the old and new Queen Victoria Hospital and later dedicated 21 years to Moberly Manor, where her compassion and commitment touched countless lives.
Music was a constant in her life. She sang in a choir when she was young and later in the Revelstoke community choir, bringing joy to many through her voice. She could play piano by ear and often filled her home with music and song. She generously shared her gift by volunteering for years at Moberly Manor and Mt. Cartier Court, playing piano and entertaining the residents. Her creativity extended into painting, crafting, and finding beauty in the everyday.
She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the United Church and a lifetime member of the Rod and Gun Club. She also sold Avon for many years, always with her signature warmth and friendly spirit. In 2008, she was honoured as Revelstoke’s Citizen of the Year which reflected her deep involvement in, and dedication to her community.
She had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel. Over the years, she explored the world—frequenting Mexico and visiting places like St. Maarten, Africa, Greece, Cuba, Ireland, and the United States. She cherished the memories and friendships made along the way.
She found joy in the outdoors and treasured her time at her beloved Trout Lake cabin. She spent countless hours fishing solo in her little red boat, using the CB name “Witchdoctor”. When she wasn’t fishing, she was playing cards, making delicious meals in her pink apron and laughing with family and friends.
Coffee dates with her friends were a special part of her routine, and she took great pleasure in attending Red Hat Society events, where her fun-loving spirit truly shone.
She is survived by her children; Renee (Kenny) Howe and Rob (Melinda) Vigue, grandchildren; Jenn (Michael) Hillier, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Howe, and Paige Vigue, great grandson; Caiden Hillier, sister; Susan (Allan) Volk, brother; Bruce (Jo-Anne) Tillen, brother in-laws; Albert (Diane) Van Goor and Eddie (Barb) Vigue and many nieces and nephews, who will remember her warmth, wit, and unwavering love.
Judy is predeceased by her dear husband; Bob Vigue, sisters; Sherrian Van Goor, Dianne Garant and treasured canine companions, Misty and Daisy.
A graveside interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery on July 7th at 11:00 a.m. A memorial tea will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Revelstoke United Church, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia or the BC Cancer Foundation in her name.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
