Jonathan was born in Bonn (West) Germany on April 6, 1952 where the family was posted as part of the post-war allied occupation of Germany. He emigrated with the family to live in Ontario in 1953. He subsequently moved to Princeton to work and live near his sister Francesca and finally settled in Salmon Arm. He enjoyed Salmon Arm and the friendly people there.
He passed away at Bastion Place on April 3, 2025 three days prior to his 73rd birthday. He was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Irene and his sister Francesca. He is survived by his brother Christopher (Margaret) and sister Louise; nephews Geoffrey (Melanie), Jeremy (Jessica), Sean (Heather) and Michael (Tysha); step nephews Simon (Ashleigh) and Kevin (Gillian); nieces Alicia (Rob), Lisa (Randy), Nicole (Ted); grand nephews, Devon, Ryder, Ryan, Connor and Thomas; and grand nieces, Morgan, Makenna, Isabella, Amanda, Sophie, Violet, Chloe and Lola Mae.
Jon liked socializing (telling jokes with an off-beat sense of humour), watching TV, reading, music (in earlier times playing the guitar) and art. He was always interested in Margaret’s paintings and frequently asked for updates on the book she was writing. He was a caregiver to Gord for 16 years and worked closely with Gord’s other caregiver Darlene. He formed a close relationship with them and they kept in regular touch and supported Jon to the end. Many thanks to them for that. Also thanks to the helpful and kind staff at Pioneer Lodge and Bastion Place and his family physician Dr Brook Glanville.
