John Prunkle Obituary

John passed away at Shuswap Lake General Hospital after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

John is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Marcy; sons, Dean (Dana) and Steve (Melissa); grandchildren, Keanan, Jonah, Kaleb and Hailey.  Also surviving are his two brothers, Ken and Brian, and sister, Marilyn and their families; aunt Ruth Haddow; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Anna (Krokom) Prunkle; brothers, George and Robert.

Revelstoke was home for 40 years where John worked as Maintenance Supervisor for the School District.  He was well known as a Jack of all Trades, helping many people with different projects.

John loved to invent things such as his firewood carrier he made for the basement to feed the wood stove.  Winter would find him at the curling rink either working or curling, enjoying it all!

Summers were spent camping and boating with family and friends!  Leaving many happy fun memories for all to enjoy.  His Prunkisms were quite famous, those who knew him well will remember many of them!

Piccadilly Care and Shuswap Lake General Hospital were his home for the last few years being cared for lovingly by the staff at both places.  Special thanks to Drs. Kim Grieve and Stacey Kirkman for their kindness in his last few days. Thank you so much to the Nursing Staff for their devotion to John and his family in his last days.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
