Joan Elder

We are sad to announce the sudden passing of our mother, Joan, on October 17, 2023, at the age of 86. She left the world peacefully with her children by her side.

Joan was born in Mannville, Alberta and lived on the family farm before moving to the Greater Vancouver area where she worked as a bank teller for many years and then as a home care support worker until her retirement.

Joan will be lovingly remembered by her children David (Linda), Holly, Jennifer (Rick), by her grandchildren Anna, Haley, Dana, Charlie, and Ava, by her brother Robert, and by her kitty cat Sofie. Joan was predeceased by her daughter Jodie and her parents John and Sofia.

Joan was always generous to all who knew and came in contact with her. She had a huge love for animals and would hand out treats whenever the occasion arose. She loved books, music, drawing, dancing, and knitting. It was with great joy that she gifted her hand knitted scarved to family and friends. She would greet everyone with kindness and always with a smile, right to the end. We will miss you.

A special thanks to all the caring staff in the ICU at Vernon Jubilee hospital for making her comfortable in her last few days.
