James Francis Floyd

James Francis Floyd, adored husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend passed away on
Wednesday evening, September 9, 2026 at Vernon Jubilee hospital.

Born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on February 18, 1939, Jim’s life was a testament to generosity,
acts of service and kindness, and a strong desire to have some fun along the way. He was a man
of patience and caring, with a healthy dose of deep determination.

He is known by many around Revelstoke through his years as a teacher and from his
involvement in the Catholic church. He loved being greeted by former students around town and
although he couldn’t always ‘put a name to a face’, he relished these meetings.

Jim made many lasting friendships during his years playing hockey with the Selkirks and during
the many years he was an active member of the Golf Club. He was a talented wood worker,
loved to read, and enjoyed a Molson Canadian or a glass of wine and a game of cards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis. His dedication and love for her was an
honour to witness. He was predeceased by his son Dan and is survived by his daughters; Kim
(Thom), and Cindy; grandchildren, Josh (Mackinley) and Ali (Rheal). Jim and his brothers and
sisters remained a tight knit family with a love for ‘kibitzing’ and ribbing each other. He was
predeceased by his brothers Allan and Colin, and his sister Hughena, and is survived by Rita,
David, Mary, Evelyn, Mike (Sonya), Noella (Ian), and Marlene (Graham), along with many
nieces and nephews.

Prayers will be held at St. Francis of Assisi on Tuesday, September 15th at 7:00 pm. with a mass
of Christian burial on Wednesday, September 16th at 11:00 am. A private family internment will
take place at a later date. Your presence and support mean the most to us. For those who wish to
