It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Woolridge on February 5, 2025, at the age of 96. Born in Edmonton on May 16, 1928, Jack was one of five brothers and grew up with a strong sense of family and adventure.
After finishing school, Jack began his lifelong career with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a train engineer, a job he truly loved. His work took him to Calgary in 1964. Upon retirement he moved to BC’s lower mainland, Vancouver Island, Kelowna and finally to Salmon Arm.
Jack was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and his first wife, May, raised six children together: Cheryl, Ken, Dave, Karen, Larry, and Bev. Though he suffered the loss of May in 1980, Jack found love again with Marie but was sadly widowed once more in 2011.
In his youth Jack treasured time spent at the lake and travelling in his beloved Model T. He had a deep love for reading, classical music, sports and long walks. A skilled craftsman, he built his own sailboat and took great pride in navigating the waters off Mill Bay, Vancouver Island, and later on Okanagan Lake. A lifelong hockey player, he remarkably continued playing the sport he loved until the age of 80.
After retiring, Jack embraced the world with open arms, traveling extensively, cherishing each experience and the memories made.
Above all, Jack’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his six children, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, who will always remember his easygoing nature and warm smile.
