Jack was born June 3, 1940, in Pickerel River, Ontario. He was the baby of four kids (Sandy, Orville and Charlotte). His Dad had a charter boat in which he organized fishing trips for tourists. So now we know how he developed his passion for fishing.
Jack is survived by his wife Pearl and three children: Linda, Lisa (Schaan) and John (Tara). Four amazing grandchildren; Tara (Josh), Schania, Owen (Taylor) and Nathan. Two Aussie great grandchildren; Jack (his namesake) and Katie.
Jack and Pearl celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary January 12th. They have been together for 70 years in total, since Jack was 15 and Pearl was 13!
Jack was a dedicated employee of BC Hydro for 44 years. He worked as a Machine Operator and worked out of town during the week.
Jack loved fishing, hunting and hockey. Jack and Pearl loved going on long drives (Pearl says that they never knew where that would end up, so she always made sure there were oysters and a sleave of crackers in the trunk).
Playing the guitar and singing was a lifelong hobby, along with reading newspapers and magazines about hunting, fishing and trains.
Jack and Pearl enjoyed the outdoors. Spending countless hours in their garden. Outside in the winters watching their children and all their friends, then their grandchildren play in the outdoor rink Jack made every year or sledding down the hills near the house.
Jack and Pearl loved their pets dearly. Almost more than most people! Over the years there was always a cat or two and more importantly a dog around.
Jack loved to talk with other people, it didn’t matter if Jack knew them or not (if you know, you know).
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Wiecker and the caring staff at Bastion Place for the amazing care provided to Jack.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate to your favorite charity or organization, please do so in Jack’s memory.
A gathering will take place to celebrate Jack’s life at Bowers Funeral Home in Salmon Arm on June 30/26 at 2:00 pm.
