Hugo Otto Reutlinger
January 20, 1939 ~ April 23, 2020 (age 81) 81 Years Old
3 Flowers or Condolences have been shared with support of Hugo's family - View on Tribute Wall
On April 23, Hugo passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior while at home with his family by his side. Hugo was born to Ella and Hans Reutlinger in Prince Albert Saskatchewan on January 20, 1939, and grew up close by in Middle Lake on the family farm. In 1959, Hugo joined the RCAF, where he trained as an aeronautical electrician for three years before being honourably discharged. In 1963 he returned to school at LCBI in Outlook Sk. to complete his Grade 12. While at LCBI, Hugo met the love of his life, Marlaine, and married her shortly after in 1964. In 1974, Hugo moved his family from Saskatchewan to Salmon Arm B.C., where he was employed as Dispatcher at Salmon Arm Readi-Mix for 35 years until his retirement in 2008. Hugo was known and loved by those in the local construction industry as the "polite voice" on the other end of the telephone line. After his retirement, Hugo's passion was his involvement with the North Okanagan Valley Gleaners. Hugo faithfully travelled to the Gleaner plant at Lavington twice a week, taking many other committed volunteers with him, until his failing health eventually forced him to stay home. Hugo is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlaine, and four children, Darcy (Sandi), Carey (Tracy), Jodi (Kelvin) and Nikki (Jeff); his 13 Grandchildren, Brendan, Shelby, Alyssa, Joel, Quinn, Ella, Jesse, Kelsey, Kaitlin, Ryan, Tanner, Connor, and Paige; and great-grandchild Evy (the true joy of his last two years). Hugo is also survived by his brothers Konrad (Sylvia), John (Fidelis), Wally (Sherlane) and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Okanagan Valley Gleaners. By E-transfer to novgleaners@gmail.com; by cheque to 4405 - 29th Street, Vernon V1T 5B7; Canada Helps donations can be done on website www.novgleaners.org. A family graveside service will be held in Middle Lake Saskatchewan at a later date.
