This local legend defied all odds when he was given just 6 months to live, and 7 years later he had us all convinced he was invincible. Greg always liked to keep people on their toes (because you can't dance with a heavy foot), and true to him he did things his way and baffled everyone by making a quick exit, passing away peacefully on the afternoon of August 8th. Greg's big heart made Packer's Place feel like family to so many, encouraging people who otherwise may have moved away from Golden to stay. He was a cherished businessman within the community, a pillar in the local music scene, and his authentic smile will be missed around town. His 15 years of service flying his plane for the local search and rescue team brought him great pride, as did his buzzing of the Eagle's Eye Restaurant. We love you Packer, happy you are at peace now and your wild spirit can live on untethered.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 31st at 1:00 PM, at the Golden Senior's Centre (1401 9th St S) with the celebration casually continuing afterwards at the Riverhouse Tavern
