Gregory Allan Gylander

It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Gregory Allan Gylander on May 14, 2025 with his loving family by his side. 

He was born in Edmonton Alberta on March 30, 1950 and was raised in Entwistle, Alberta. He met and married Dona and then moved from Hinton to Golden BC. Greg has 5 children, Sebastian, Chad, Clayton, Jennifer, Carla and godson Colby plus grandchildren. He left behind his siblings Gary, Rory and Rick plus many other people who loved him. 

Greg had a passion for motorcycles and trucks. He spent countless hours in his shop tinkering and shining up his motorcycles. His pickup truck was the envy of all his buddies due to the cleanliness and bright lights he always put on it.  Greg enjoyed motorcycle trips with the boys each year and camping with Dona and Sebastian. Greg always went for coffee with the A&W boys where they solved the world problems and caught up to the latest goings on in Golden. 

Greg had a dream to become an RCMP member, however he was physically to short to qualify back in the day but in later life he became an Auxiliary Constable with the Golden RCMP from Apr 2005 to Dec 2015 which made his dream a reality. 

Two very important events that made Greg proud were his godson Colby graduating as a Conversation Officer and watching Sebastian compete in the World Special Olympics Games in Italy (March 2025), both events brought Greg a great sense of joy and pride. 

Greg used to own a logging truck and after selling it he was a chip hauling driver for many years prior to becoming shop manager at Trimac in Golden from which he retired in 2011. 

Although he is no longer with us in body, we will always remember the roar of his motorcycle leaving the driveway on his rides with the “boys”.  

Greg was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer and both his parents Don and Jean.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will take place at the Golden Seniors Center on May 31, 2025 at 1:00 pm, 1409 – 9th St S, Golden, BC
