George Wilfred Thielman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Wilfred Thielman at the age of 84.

George passed away peacefully at Hillside Village in Salmon Arm on July 9 2021. He will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 62 year, Geraldine; his children: Brenda (Doug), Cynthia, Christina (Sanford) and Peter (Glenda); grandchildren: Georgia, Todd, Niccole, Kimberly, Amber and Caitlyn; great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Emma, Alexandra, Brin, Makenzie, Cordell, Torin, Ellena, Traz and Dax; great-great-grandchildren Karsyn and Wilder aka Tyrell.

Also left to mourn are his sister Eileen and brother Edward (Mary) and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. George was predeceased by his parents Peter and Milada and his sister Christina.

George “Pip” was born in Vernon BC and grew up on the family farm on Grandview Bench. He attended the Grandview Bench school from grade one to eight and then onto high school in Enderby where he graduated in 1954. He met the love of his life at a dance at the Mara Community Hall on February 18 1956. They married in 1958 and moved onto the “Bench” where they built their home and raised their family. George worked in the forest industry his entire life. He was a logger and co-owned a small sawmill and later a post and rail mill with his brother Ed until their retirement. After retirement Dad took quite an interest in gardening and was so proud of his everbearing raspberries. George and Gerry enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and just travelling the backwoods trails. He loved watching sports, in particular hockey, football, golf and soccer, even if his team was losing.

George will be so sadly missed by his family but fondly and lovingly remembered.
