George Ross

1925-2026

George passed away at Durand Manor, in Golden BC, on July 26, 2026.

George was born in Scotland on June 24, 1925, and went to school in Edinburgh. He went straight from school into the Royal Navy. He did his initial flying training in Canada and completed it in England. He served in Europe and the Far East.

After the war he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He then joined the British American Tobacco Company and spent the next six years working in Africa and the Far East. It was in India where he met Annette who was working for W.H.O. They were married in 1956. When their son James was born they moved to Canada where their daughter Catherine was born. They lived in Montreal, Seven Island, and Toronto before retiring to Vermont. After 15 years of Hobby Farming, they returned to Canada and lived in Canmore. They later moved to Golden to be closer to the family.

George’s hobbies included farming, Golf, skiing, bridge and hiking.

George was predeceased by his wife Annette in June of 2014. He is survived by his son James, his wife Cheryl and their children Anna and Nico; his daughter Catherine, her husband Michael and their sons Jason and Derik.

At the request of George, there will be no funeral and his ashes will be scattered privately.
