Gareth Wynne Prosser

Gareth Wynne Prosser passed away August 18th, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, friendships and family who will carry him in their hearts forever.

Gareth was born October 28th, 1944 in Glamorgan County Hospital, Neath South Wales to Clifford and Megan Prosser.

Gareth grew up with a love of books, music, learning and many friendships that would become an important part of his life.

After completing his Teaching Certificate at Trinity College in Carmarthen, Wales in 1966, his journey eventually brought him to Sicamous BC in 1968, where he began teaching at ERS and meeting his lifelong partner Connie.

After a couple of years of teaching, Gareth did a career change and began his journey with Canadian Pacific Railway as an engineer. What started as a job became a lifelong passion. Gareth dedicated many years of his life to the railway and developed a love for the trains, the people he worked alongside with, and all the journeys that became such an important part of his story. He proudly continued working for the CPR until his retirement in 2003.

Throughout life Gareth treasured many things, books, music, good conversation (with the boys), lasting friendships and above all his family.

Gareth was the beloved husband to Connie with whom he shared 57yrs. Together they built a life with love, family, many challenges, laughter and countless memories.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Christopher (Nicole), Rhianne (Wayne) and by his beloved 5 Grandchildren. He recently had just become a Great grandfather to a beautiful baby girl 2 days before his passing.

Gareth is predeceased by his Father and Mother, Clifford and Megan Prosser and his Nephew Daniel Robbins.

Gareth is also survived by his sister Bethan (Danny) and his niece Sian, who live in Manchester, England. Though separated by many miles, he cherished family and they were very important to him.

Gareth’s life was a journey that took him from Wales to Canada, from teaching in a classroom to driving the great trains of CPR. But his greatest journey was the life he built with Connie.

We will cherish the memories we all have, in the music he loved, in the books he read, in the sounds of the trains passing by, and most of all, in the hearts of all his family and friends who loved him.
