Freda Alberta Ann Rae

March 8, 1938 ~ August 6, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye here on earth and allow heaven to call home an angel. Freda (mom/grandma) will always be so loved and greatly missed everyday by her:

Children (Tim, Tony (wife Kathy), Brenda (husband Kelvin)

Sisters (Dot, Winnie)

Sisters-In-Law (Leanne, Joan, Donna (husband Gary))

Grandchildren (Sophia, Katie, Shawn)

Great Grandchildren (Brandon, Abigail, Tanner, Brooklyn, Avery)

Freda was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, John (2008), by her parents (Bill and Frieda Swain), by her siblings (Levi, Bob, Bill, Dee), by her dear brothers and sisters-in-law (Tom, Bill, Lois, Marion).

Freda lived a full and happy life. She was born in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan on March 8, 1938, to caring parents and a family full of brothers and sisters with whom she shared many happy occasions and milestones, building many wonderful memories that were shared to each generation in fantastic stories.

Freda worked for many years managing restaurants, stores, and bakeries. She lived in England for a time, met dear friends and traveled a bit. Her fondest memory is pitching 13 strikeouts in a row, then going on to win the European softball championship.

Freda’s greatest inspirations in life were the day she proudly became Mrs. John Rae, raising her wonderful kids, every moment with granddaughter Sophia and spending peaceful time in her beautiful garden. She also enjoyed every family visit, as well as time with friends bowling, curling, dancing, bingo, gambling at the horse races and casinos and playing cards.

When asked if she could live her life over again, she replied, “I wouldn’t change a thing, except for more time with my John (J.R.).” Freda passed away in hospital on August 6, 2023, and we know John (dad) welcomed her with loving arms. She is now enjoying time also being reunited with her parents, siblings, and friends, who have all gone before.

Freda wanted everyone in her life to know how much she loved them. We are so blessed to have shared so many fun times and created so many memories together! We love you!
